Are the Goetia really the Jinn?

The Goetic spirits are really the Jinn, but they were hijacked by medieval writers. Western magickians have accepted these writings, particularly the Abra-Melin book without question, applying dubious magical techniques to coerce the Goetia. Now, when you understand that the Goetia are the Jinn, life becomes so much easier.

After much thought, I have decided to use only the term Jinn rather than Goetia. This is liberating, but I am aware that there may be confusion, so where you see Goetia on this blog, it refers to the Jinn. Clear? I hope so, and with time, I am sure there will be more clarity. I know the Jinn are much happier when known by their proper name, just as you or I prefer to be known by our real name.
